Pens Even Series

For the first post on my new blog, I am writing about game six of the Stanley Cup Finals.
In a game that ended less than an hour ago, the Pittsburgh Penguins forced a decisive game seven on Friday night by defeating the defending champion Detroit Red Wings 2-1 at Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh.

The home team has won every game in this series thus far. Game seven should certainly prove to be a challenge to the upstart Penguins as they play in front of 20,000 "rabid" Red Wing fans in Joe Louis Arena in what is known as "Hockey Town."

Game Six proved to be the most exciting game of the series. The Penguins took the lead in the second period and added an insurance goal about 5 1/2 minutes into the third, but the Red Wings answered back shortly thereafter to cut the lead in half. Then they poured on the pressure as the Pens committed a couple of penalties and had to rely on their shorthanded unit and their goaltender, Marc-Andre Fleury, to come up big. Fleury stopped the Wings' Dan Cleary on a breakaway late in the game and defenseman Rob Scuderi also made a couple of big saves when Fleury was out of position with just seconds to go in the third period.

Game Seven should prove to be just as exciting........at least that's what we hope!
